Picture Michigan Wedding Collections

[ digital negatives ]

Digital Negatives are offered in two categories:

- Enhanced Digital Negatives

- Scrapbooker's Special

Many of our packages include Enhanced Digital Negatives based on usage at no extra cost!

The simple version is this: if an image is enhanced for a book or a print 8x10 or larger, it will be included after the final product is delivered. Enhancements include fixing or removing blemishes, subtle repairs, special enhancements, interpretive artistry, contrasty black & white, sharpening and/or blurring, and many other basic "dark-room" effects traditionally applied to processing film. Most disciplines of the arts has a term for this: post-production. The images will be from all photo shoots, including engagement, trash-the-dress and of course from the wedding coverage. When Enhanced Digital Negatives are included in the collection, or purchased separately, an addition set of images, usually about ten total, are included. These are generally the family formals and other images the artist selects.

The Scrapbooker's Special is all digital negatives from the photo shoots and coverage in their native form that are proofs or would have otherwise been proofs. No enhancements have been appllied to these images. The Scrapbooker's Special is available for separate purchase with any collection or coverage, and includes a proof book if not already included in the collection.

When considering the Enhanced vs Scrapbooker's negatives, we firmly believe that Enhanced Digital Negatives is the better choice . Quality over quantity.

All digital negatives are sized to 8x12, saved as Level 10 JPEGs with an sRGB color profile embedded in the image. This is the same aspect ratio of a 4x6 print. Or crop it to make the popular 8x10 print. It is strongly recommended to order enlargements directly through Picture Michigan. We take special care with each individual enlargement.

Here are a few examples of Scrapbooker's vs Enhanced images. That is, the proof version vs the post-production version. The differences are even more incredibly noticable when comparing two prints side-by-side!
